So let me give an example of something I still practice to this day.
Spring cleaning time. Yeah! I had to purge old tax papers. It’s a large project being a Realtor/Independent Contractor. I keep everything, all receipts. It didn’t help that I hadn’t done this for a few years. So I always keep the last 7 years for tax reasons, and I toss/shred out just about everything else. So a Ritual that I still use to this day was an idea I adopted from reading a Stoddard book back in the early 1990’s. (Stoddard =my favorite author)
I selected my favorite chair in the family room. I was going to be camped out for hours, so I wanted to be comfortable. My tax papers were in a couple bins. The bins went next to my chair. Got the shredder ready. Now! Here comes the part where I tried to make this chore more attractive. I sat out a bowl with my favorite Brookside Chocolates. I used to buy these at Costco, but I believe have been discontinued.
I’ve seen them around now a grocery store’s, Meijer, etc. Of course Amazon is always an option. The flavors I love are Acai with Blueberry or the Pomegranate. Either flavor is awesome.
The next is a movie to watch. This last time, I selected a DVD of and old stand-by for me, Steel Magnolias.” My college friend Jennifer R. introduced me to it. What a great movie. Female loaded cast. Girl Power!! Julia Roberts, Dolly Parton, Sally Field, Olympia Dukakis, Daryl Hannah and last but not least Shirley MacLaine. I love this bunch of women friends. Their ups and downs, Southern flare since it takes place in Louisiana. And of course husband trial and tribulations. I’ve seen this movie many, many times. But it’s an all-time favorite.
Next is my large soda, preferably with crushed ice, with a straw. Diet Pepsi is my first choice. But I usually spike the Diet Pepsi with Regular Pepsi. 🙂 Yes, I have a problem. So I sit and get started. My surroundings are attractive to me. That’s an environment I don’t mind hanging out in for a couple hours.
